Certificate in Supporting Care Leavers: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Record Access and Life Story Work
This programme is designed help professionals (e.g., social workers, personal advisors, or key workers) understand how to support care leavers in safely and meaningfully engaging with their Subject Access Records (SARs) through trauma-informed practice.
The course strengthens staff understanding of trauma within the care system and its impact on

emotional regulation, engagement, and record access. It provides clear guidance on legal and ethical frameworks, helping staff balance transparency, confidentiality, and duty of care. Modules focus on preparing and structuring SAR review sessions, managing emotional triggers, interpreting professional language and bias within records, and supporting care leavers to make sense of incomplete or complex histories.
The course allows up to 5 learners access, with a code provided upon purchase and initial access to the course. Each learner will have access to the course for 24 weeks.
