Help & Support

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

This page explains the types of help and support we offer, and how to take the next step.

If you’re caring for a child or young person who has experienced trauma, you may be feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure what to do next.

Many parents and carers tell us they feel judged, isolated, or blamed — when in reality, they are doing their very best in extremely challenging circumstances.

At the Centre of Excellence in Child Trauma (CoECT), we provide specialist, trauma‑informed support to help you understand what’s happening, rebuild confidence, and feel more supported in your parenting.

Is this Support for you?

Our help and support may be right for you if:

  • You’re experiencing aggression or violence from your child or teenager

  • You feel emotionally drained, burnt out, or close to breaking point

  • Your child’s behaviour feels difficult, unpredictable, or overwhelming

  • You’ve tried support before, but found it didn’t really help

  • You want to understand trauma and how it affects behaviour

  • You need someone who gets it and won’t judge you

How Our Support Helps

Working with us can help you to:

  • Understand how trauma impacts your child’s brain, behaviour, and emotions

  • Respond with greater calm and confidence during difficult moments

  • Reduce conflict and escalation within the home

  • Strengthen your relationship with your child

  • Feel less isolated, more emotionally supported to help rebuild your own resilience and wellbeing.

Our focus is tailored to your family's individual needs, with a strong emphasis on building safety, connection, and understanding. We support you with a toolbox of strategies that work for your family.

Our Approach

All of our work is grounded in:

  • Trauma-informed practice

  • Attachment and neuroscience-based understanding

  • Compassion-focused support

  • Real-world experience of working with families affected by trauma

  • We recognise that parenting traumatised children is complex.  â€‹There are no quick fixes.

  • We understand how hard this can be — and we won’t ask you to do anything that doesn’t feel right for your family.

“Incredible Havening Session! I never thought it would make such a difference, I feel so much better and no longer feel anxious about that particular situation. Thank you.”

Thomas,

3 Steps to Connect™ Package for child on parent violence.

“The Effects of our session are remarkable so far, it is a bit like I'm seeing my child's negative behaviour through the wrong end of a telescope; It is close enough to be able to deal with it practically, but too far away to cause and emotional reaction.”

Katie,

Corporate Wellness Package.

“The package has helped our staff considerably, the havening element has had a positive impact on them.. Our staff seem more relaxed and focused on their work.”
